Switzerland 2-1 Canada: the Swiss top Group B unbeaten

At BC Place in Vancouver, Switzerland came from behind a slow start to beat co-hosts Canada 2-1 and win Group B unbeaten. Ruben Vargas struck right after the interval (46’), set up by the lively Johan Manzambi, who then grabbed the second himself in the 57th minute. Promise David pulled one back for Canada in the 76th, but the hosts could not find an equaliser.

Both teams still go through: Switzerland finish top on seven points, Canada second on four. Full report in our Switzerland 2-1 Canada recap.

Bosnia & Herzegovina 3-1 Qatar: Dragons sign off in style

At Lumen Field in Seattle, Bosnia & Herzegovina beat Qatar 3-1 to finish their group on a high. Benjamin Alajbegović opened the scoring (29’), an own goal made it two (34’), and Haris Mahmić sealed it late (80’); Hassan Al-Haydos had briefly levelled for Qatar from the spot (42’). The win lifts Bosnia to four points and into the race for one of the best third-placed spots. Qatar, with a single point, are eliminated.

Brazil 3-0 Scotland: Vinícius runs the show

At Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Brazil were too strong for a brave Scotland, winning 3-0 to top Group C. Vinícius Júnior struck early (7’) and again on the stroke of half-time (45’+3’) before Matheus Cunha added the third just past the hour. Scotland competed but could not break through, and slip to third in the group. The full story is in our Brazil 3-0 Scotland recap.

Morocco 4-2 Haiti: a six-goal thriller in Atlanta

The day’s most entertaining game came at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where Morocco beat Haiti 4-2 to secure second place in Group C. Haiti stunned the Atlas Lions with an early own goal (10’) and led again through Wilson Isidor (43’), but Morocco answered through Achraf Hakimi (39’), Ismael Saibari (45’+1’), Soufiane Rahimi (78’) and Gessime Yassine (89’). For all their spirit, Haiti finish bottom of the group and bow out.

What it means

Two groups, two clear winners — Switzerland and Brazil — and two more qualifiers in Canada and Morocco. Qatar and Haiti are out, while Bosnia and Scotland sit third in their groups and now wait on the best third-placed teams maths to see whether they sneak into the round of 32.
