Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-23
Football of Nations (footballofnations.com) is an independent fan hub for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We try to collect as little as possible from visitors. This page explains exactly what we do collect, why, and how you can opt out.
1. Cookies we use
We use a single category of cookie: analytics. No advertising cookies, no profiling, no third-party trackers beyond the one listed below.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) | Distinguish unique visitors so we can see which articles and pages fans read. | Up to 2 years |
cookie-consent-v1 | Football of Nations (first-party, stored in localStorage) | Remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics so we don't ask again. | 12 months |
2. When the analytics cookie loads
Google Analytics is not loaded when you first visit the site. The Google Analytics script is only added to the page after you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you click Reject, or close the banner without accepting, no analytics data is collected and no Google cookies are written.
3. How to change your mind
Your choice is stored locally in your browser for 12 months. You can change it at any time by clicking Cookie settings in the footer — that re-opens the banner and lets you accept or reject again. Clearing your browser data also resets the choice and the banner will appear on your next visit.
4. What we don't do
- We don't sell your data to anyone.
- We don't run ad networks or remarketing pixels.
- We don't ask you to create an account or share personal information.
- We don't use cross-site or fingerprinting trackers.
5. Hosting and request logs
Pages are served from our hosting provider, which may keep short-lived request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. These logs are not used for analytics or marketing and are rotated within 30 days.
6. Your rights
If you're in the EU/UK, you have the right to access, correct or delete any personal data we hold about you under the GDPR. Since we only collect analytics after consent and don't link visits to identifiable people, there is usually nothing to delete beyond what you can remove yourself by clearing your browser data. For any questions, contact us at privacy@footballofnations.com.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change anything material — for example, add a new analytics tool or embed third-party video — we will update this page and ask for fresh consent before loading the new tool.
