Groups J & K Wrap: Argentina Cruise, Colombia Top as Algeria and DR Congo Sneak Through
Argentina signed off the group stage with a 3-1 win over Jordan to take Group J, while Colombia's goalless draw with Portugal was enough for top spot in Group K. Algeria and DR Congo both squeezed through in third.
The 2026 World Cup group stage is complete. The last two pools — Groups J and K — wrapped up on Saturday, June 27, with the two games in each group kicking off together. Argentina and Colombia confirmed top spot, Austria and Portugal took the runner-up places, and Algeria and DR Congo both edged through as best-third-placed sides. Below are the confirmed finals only — no estimated scores.
Jordan 1-3 Argentina
Argentina closed out a perfect group stage at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, beating Jordan 3-1 to make it three wins from three. Lionel Messi was among the scorers as the group winners eased home against a Jordan side already eliminated. The result leaves Argentina top of Group J on a maximum nine points with a +7 goal difference — comfortably the best record of the two groups settled on the day.
Algeria 3-3 Austria
The other Group J game was the wild one. Algeria and Austria played out a 3-3 draw at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, a frenetic six-goal finish to the group with both sides chasing the points they needed. The shared spoils sent Austria through in second on four points and a level goal difference, while Algeria also advanced, finishing third on the same four points but a −2 goal difference — enough to land one of the best-third-placed berths.
Colombia 0-0 Portugal
Top spot in Group K came down to a tense, goalless stalemate in Miami Gardens. Colombia and Portugal drew 0-0, a result that suited Colombia — who needed only a point — and confirmed them as group winners on seven points with a +3 goal difference. Portugal, unbeaten through the group, finish second on five points but boast the best attacking record in the pool (+5 goal difference) after their earlier rout of Uzbekistan.
DR Congo 3-1 Uzbekistan
While Colombia and Portugal cancelled each other out, DR Congo beat Uzbekistan 3-1 in Atlanta to climb into the qualification places. The win lifted DR Congo to four points and third place in Group K, securing one of the best-third slots and a first knockout appearance of this campaign. Uzbekistan finish bottom with no points and a −9 goal difference after three defeats.
Final Group J table
Argentina finish first on nine points, Austria second on four (level on points with Algeria but ahead on goal difference), Algeria third on four, and Jordan bottom without a point.
Final Group K table
Colombia top the group on seven points, Portugal second on five, DR Congo third on four, and Uzbekistan out bottom on zero.
